Classroom rubric!
In our classroom we made a reading rubric to desciribe what a level 4, 3, 2, and 1 reading paper would look like. We use it for checking and grading our reading work. At first we had a simple rubric that wasn't very self-explanatory but then we went over our first rubric and we split it into reading and writing catagories, and we also added more detailed rules for each level... take a look. Welcome to our blog!
Hey there 45-ers!
Welcome to our classroom blog! We will have so much fun with technology this year! We will be doing classroom blogs, and much more :). Today was a very busy day. We started off with coping down are agenda. We had no journal entry today. Then we worked on There’s A Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom. We are getting near the end of the book soon. Poor Mrs. V-F, she has to work so fast to create new questions :). After we worked on There’s A Boy in the Girls ’ Bathroom we went to Library with Mrs. O’Meara. We played a relay race in library to find the right books with the call number. It was really fun, and we beat the other classrooms record :). After we went to Library we came back to our classroom, got our snacks, and headed out to recess. After recess we played math games until lunch. Then we went to lunch, then came back and worked on our homework. 4th grade has a math test tomorrow, and 5th grade has a math test on Monday so we really have to work hard!
Hope you enjoy our blog :)

GOOGLE contest
Hey 45-ers,
I've posted the link with sample "Google doodles" on the left.
Mrs. Peterson said that she will mail in the designs for you, so make sure you get them to her as soon as possible.
Here are the Top Ten Tips for a great design:
1. Make sure your design complements the shape of the letters in the Google logo, but don't let that restrict your creativity.
2. Experiment with different media to see which one works best for your design (you can even create your doodle on your PC).
3. Don't over-complicate your design – simpler images often have the most impact.
4.Remember that your design could end up on the Google homepage, so imagine how it will look on screen.
5. To find inspiration around the "What I Wish for the World?" theme, try thinking about the future and how you would like it to differ from the present.
6. Remember to use color well and think about how it interacts with a white background.
7. Avoid commercial or copyrighted images.
8. Think outside the box – try to create a doodle that's different from your classmates and hasn't been done before.
9. Feel free to use the space behind and in front of the Google letters, but try to maintain your design's overall balance.
10. Have fun! "Doodle 4 Google" is all about creativity and enjoying designing fun things. Think about how you want to change the world.

Alien Artistry
We are doing something called ALIEN ARTISTRY. What we did is we put some measurements on a purple piece of paper. It had head length, head width, ear length, ear width, mouth length, mouth width, nose length, and nose width. We had to make an Alien of our own kind, but we had to use our measurements to make it. My Alien has a mouth wider than my Alien's head. I loved it.
